North Carolina jewelry artist Jeffery Lomax has been involved in the jewelry business for 34 years. Lomax, a born and bread Carolina boy gets his inspiration from his surroundings and life experiences. "I love to play with metals" says Lomax of his craft.
Lomax had his first job in the jewelry business in 1971, at age 16, and was introduced to the world of fine jewelry. It wasn’t long before he decided he wanted to pursue the crafting of those fine jewelry items himself.
In 1976 he attended the Holland School for Jewelers and apprenticed with Homer Holland. He attended several courses with Mr. Holland and eventually helped with project planning, execution and instruction of some incoming students.
In the mid 1990's Lomax attended Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts under the guidance of Charles Lewton-Brain. It was there that he also received the teachings of Doug Zaruba and a short course with Alan Revere of the Revere Academy in San Francisco California. Combined with with courses attended at the New Approach School for Jewelers Lomax has pursued the craft and art of fine jewelry making most of his life. In the past few years Lomax has rediscovered the passion for making and handcrafting jewelry. Whether it is forging metal against an anvil, or blending recycled materials into beautiful objects of adornment, the craft is in masterful hands.
"It’s so hard to find time for creativity with all the repairs, restorations and basic setting jobs. It has been great for me, and enjoyable playtime in my shop. I hope ya’ll enjoy my latest stuff".
